Feng Shui pronounced "fung-shway" or "Wind and Water" is the ancient Chinese Art Of Placement. It is based on the understanding of the flow of energy (Ch'i) throughout ones inner and outer life. The tradition of Feng Shui believes the way a home is decorated and designed affects the fortune of the people living in it. Feng Shui, the art of creating/finding harmony in your surroundings, can be applied to your home, office or apartment.
Definitions:
Bagua: The bagua (pronounced Ba-gwa) is the spatial map used to identify different quadrants of a space or environment. It consists of eight external sectors and one central one called the Tai Chi: a symbol denoting a perfect balance of the flowing energies of Yin and Yang, and also representing Earth.
Chi (chee): The ever-flowing energy of life or life force which contains and sustains all matter. Feng Shui concerns itself with the movement and containment of chi to create the most beneficial support for a person in their environment.
Creative Cycle: The creative cycle describes how the five elements promote each other. Water feeds wood, wood fuels fire, fire makes earth, earth creates metal, and metal holds water.
Crystals: Stones that attract and amplify energy through diffusion of light.
Cure: A cure is a remedy for a negative feng shui situation. It can enhance a space's energy, or it can neutralize or negate what is seen as negative energies within a space.
Destructive Cycle: The destructive cycle describes how the five energies, or five elements, diminish each other. Water douses fire, fire melts metal, metal chops wood, wood uproots earth and earth dams water.
Five Elements: One of the foundations of feng shui theory is rooted in the interaction and balance between the five elements, which in Chinese cosmology are wood, fire, metal, water and earth. These elements are used as remedies or correctives.
Earth: Earth energy is grounding and stabilizing and supports energy and life. Earth colors are yellow and orange.
Fire: Bright primary colors like red symbolize fire. This element implies expression.
Metal: Metal is symbolized by the color white, silver, gold, and copper. This element implies leadership.
Water: Water is symbolized by the colors blue and black. This element implies flow, life path, nourishment, and communication.
Wood: Wood is symbolized by the color green or living plants. This element implies growth and strength.
Feng shui (fung-shway): In Chinese, feng shui means wind water. We use the term to denote the art of placing items so they are in harmony with each other and their environment.
Gua: A gua describes one of the sections of the bagua spatial map.
Poison arrow: A term that refers to sharp, hostile corners or objects that can cause oppressive, destructive or disruptive chi.
Space clearing: A ceremony that rids a building or space of existing energies including residual emotional or physical negative energies that might be left from previous occupants or carried home with you.
Yin and yang: Male and female. Dark and light. Quiet and active. Winter and summer. Earth and heaven. Yin and yang are elemental opposites that, when in balance, create harmony and opportunity.

Definition: Home staging is the process of preparing a home (and everything within the home) for sale, with a particular focus on presentation.
You can think of home staging as presenting your house in a way that appeals to the largest possible audience, in order to ensure a quick sale for the best possible price. It bears repeating. The key to this whole thing is appealing to the largest audience — that's what it's all about.
Here's the bottom line: Staging your home can benefit you regardless of what type of real estate market you are in.
